In May 2009, the Company completed the acquisition of XCEL Telecom Private Ltd. On July 22, 2009, the Company completed its acquisition of 230 towers and related third party leases located in Brazil. On October 28, 2009, the Company acquired Insight Infrastructure Pte. Ltd. (Insight). On December 23, 2009, the Company acquired 196 towers from Cincinnati Bell Inc. During the year December 31, 2009, the Company acquired an additional 96 towers in the United States from various third parties. In September 2010, the Company launched operations in Colombia, where it entered into an agreement to purchase the rights for up to 458 wireless communication tower sites from Telefonica S.A.’s Colombian subsidiary, Colombia Telecomunicaciones S.A. E.S.P.

Rental and Management Segment

The Company’s primary business is its communications site leasing business, which it conducts through its rental and management segment. This segment accounted for approximately 97%, of the Company’s total revenues for the year ended December 31, 2009. Its rental and management segment is consisted of its domestic and international site leasing business, including the operation of wireless communications towers, broadcast communications towers and DAS networks, as well as rooftop management. The Company owns and operates wireless communications towers in the United States, Mexico and Brazil, based on number of towers and revenue. It also owns and operates communications towers in India. In addition to owned wireless communications towers, the Company also manages wireless communications sites for property owners in the United States, Mexico and Brazil. The Company lease space on its wireless communications towers to customers in a range of wireless industries, including personal communications services, cellular, mobile radio, Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access, Inc. (WiMAX), paging and fixed microwave.

The Company is an independent owners and operators of broadcast towers in the United States and Mexico. The Company owns over 230 broadcast towers in the United States and has rights to approximately 200 broadcast towers in Mexico. It provides in-building neutral host DAS networks in the United States. It owns and operates approximately 200 in-building DAS networks in malls, casinos and other in-building applications in the United States and Mexico. It obtains rights to install and operate in-building DAS networks by entering into contracts with property owners, and it grants rights to wireless service providers to attach their equipment to its in-building DAS networks for a fee under licenses that typically have an initial non-cancelable term of at least ten years. The Company also provides management services to property owners in the United States, Mexico and Brazil, who own rooftops that are capable of hosting wireless communications equipment.

Network Development Services Segment

The Company offers tower-related services, including site acquisition, zoning and permitting services and structural analysis services, through its network development services segment. During 2009, this segment accounted for approximately 3% of its total revenues. The Company engages in site acquisition services for its own account in connection with its tower development projects, as well as the behalf of its customers. The Company offers structural analysis services to wireless carriers in connection with the installation of communications equipment on towers.
