Company Overview
Dyckerhoff & Widmann AG is one of the largest civil engineering and building contractors in Germany. The company is engaged in the general construction of buildings and civil engineering works. The company’s works comprise motorways, roads, airfields, bridge, and sport facilities. The company is also involved in multifamily housing construction, operative builders, commercial and institutional building construction. It aims to strengthen and increase the confidence to fulfill the requirements of its customers in the best possible way. Its head office is located in Mьnchen, Germany.
Dyckerhoff & Widmann’s civil engineering services include bridge construction; environment, public utilities, flood protection walls; hydro and marine structures; construction of railway facilities; wind power plants; underground car parks; and civil engineering structures and tunnels built by the open cut method. The company has participated in construction of approximately 60 structures of bridges, tunnels and buildings and participated in three large-scale projects.
Dyckerhoff & Widmann was established in 1865 in Germany and began its international activities in 1891. Given the remarkable increase of international business and due to requirements for an adequate and transparent organisational structure, DYWIDAG International GmbH was established as a separate legal entity and with its own organisation in 2000. In 2001, Dyckerhoff & Widmann merged with one of the major German construction companies, WALTER BAU-AG, and both companies continued its business under the name ‘WALTER BAU-AG vereinigt mi DYWIDAG’.
The entire international business of the new company was transferred to and further pursued by DYWIDAG International GmbH, which thus continued to trade and indeed increased its activities considerably. In February 2005, the shares of DYWIDAG International GmbH as well as other significant parts of WALTER BAU-AG vereinigt mit DYWIDAG, such as DYWIDAG Bau GmbH and Heilit + Wцrner Bau GmbH, were acquired by STRABAG SE, a large and global player in the international construction market.
