The conventional oil pipelines comprise the Bow River, Central Alberta, Mid-Saskatchewan and the Valley pipeline systems. The combined systems transport more than 211,900 barrels per day to central and eastern Alberta and southwestern Saskatchewan. Its oil sands transportation business include the Cold Lake and Corridor Pipeline Systems having more than 1,900 km of operating pipeline and 2.7 million barrels of storage. It is the largest oil sands gathering business in Canada. NGL extraction segment comprises the Cochrane, Empress II and partial ownership of Empress V extraction plants located on the TransCanada natural gas transmission system. The company’s subsidiary, Simon Storage Limited, operates the largest independent bulk liquid storage business in the United Kingdom.

Description and history
Inter Pipeline Fund is a limited partnership. Inter Pipeline is a publicly traded limited partnership that owns and operates four feeder pipeline systems located in southern Alberta and southwestern Saskatchewan. Totaling approximately 4,100 kilometers in length, these systems comprise one of the largest crude oil feeder pipeline businesses in Canada. In addition, Inter Pipeline owns 85% of and operates the Cold Lake Pipeline System. The Cold Lake Pipeline System is Canada’s largest heavy oil gathering system, consisting of over 900 kilometres of heavy blend and condensate pipelines. in 2002, the pipelines had an average throughput of 215,100 barrels per day of crude oil and condensate.
The Fund was formed on October 9, 1997 and was listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange on November 27, 1997 under the trading symbol IPL.UN.
