In addition, it offers asset management services, including general account assets, unit-linked portfolio, pension plans, guaranteed fund and bearish fund, and pension asset management; and an array of life and annuity reinsurance solutions. Aegon’s other activities include the provision of accident and health insurance products, including disability insurance, accidental death, and dismemberment insurance; general insurance, such as house, car, and fire insurance; and banking services, including savings accounts and investment contracts.
Aegon is a publicly quoted company whose shares are listed on the stock exchanges of Amsterdam, London, New York and Tokyo. In addition, the company’s stock is included in many major equity indices.

The Company as it is known today, was established in 1983, its oldest roots can be traced to the period when the company provided modest burial funds to customers to ensure a decent funeral for a family member or loved one. These funds are the historical roots of industrial life insurance.
The Company ‘s main predecessors are ‘Algemeene Friesche’ (1844), ‘Eerste Nederlandsche’ (1882), ‘Groot-Noordhollandsche’ (1845), ‘Olveh’ (1879) and `Nillmij (1859). The history of these companies takes us back to the nineteenth century. The oldest of these five, the ‘Algemeene Friesche’, was founded on October 1, 1844. Apart from these five, there were quite a few other predecessors, some of them small, others of considerable importance.
Listing of shares
The oldest listing date back to March 30, 1966 when the shares of the `Eerste Nederlandsche’ were listed on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange. Followed in 1968 by NILLMIJ; in 1969 by EN/NILLMIJ (after the merger) and in 1973 under the name of Ennia. Listings on foreign stock exchanges followed: London in 1975 and Zurich (including Basel and Geneva) in 1978. The listing supported Ennia’s goals for internationalization.
